About the NICU
With the best medical staff and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities in Korea, we provide the best care to high-risk newborns, premature infants, low birth weight infants and term infants with severe illness. The neonatal intensive care unit, with a total of 19 beds, which consists of 4 areas and 3 isolation rooms, is equipped with various advanced equipment. The NICU increases the survival rate of high-risk newborns, reduces complications through professional diagnosis, prompt treatment, and consultation. A team of experienced nurses, lead by 3 neonatal specialists, is available 24-hours to quickly respond to emergencies and to pay close attention to newborn care. Skilled nurses in the NICU are constantly working to improve quality care to developing premature infants, nursing mothers through breastfeeding and kangaroo care, family attachment care, and infection control. In addition, it serves as a regional neonatal intensive care unit that treats and manages high-risk infants born in the region.

One Special Treatment Unit for Micro-Premature Infant at the NICU
This unit is equipped with the latest equipment including a special incubator for newborns, artificial respirator, various monitors, fluid infusion machine, 24-hour EEG, echocardiogram, hypothermia treatment device, blood test machine, etc.
NICU Equipment

1. Patient Monitor
Heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, blood pressure, etc. are continuously monitored for 24 hours.

2. Incubator
It provides warmth, humidification, and air filtration for premature babies, low birth weight babies, and high-risk newborns. It provides an optimal environment for treatment and safety by observing the baby as a whole and protecting it from the external environment.

3. Ventilator
Premature infants whose lungs are not mature and for infants with breathing difficulties receive respiratory assistance through an invasive & non-invasive ventilator.

4. Phototherapy
This device is for the treatment of jaundice in newborns.

5. Ultrasound Machine
We have a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine that can scan the entire head, abdomen, heart and other organs.

6. Amplitude EEG
This machine diagnoses the condition in the head by measuring EEG for 24 hours in patients with hypoxia, convulsions, etc.

Guardian Visits and Consultations
On a set date and time, guardians will have consultations with the physician and will learn about the infant's condition.
Kangaroo Care, Breastfeeding, Newborn Care Education after Discharge
Skilled nurses in the NICU are constantly working to improve quality care to developing premature infants, nursing mothers through breastfeeding and kangaroo care, family attachment care, and infection control.
Follow-up After Discharge
    • Follow-up care through outpatient visits with a neonatal specialist
    • Developmental examination (Bayley Scales) given at the outpatient developmental laboratory operated by the pediatrics department
    • Early rehabilitation observation and treatment if necessary
    • Examination of premature infants for retinopathy of prematurity
